AMEN 81 - STADTFEIND 10"

truth be told: I'm not really into the later stuff of AMEN 81 but I'm really into this 10" as this is a great merging of early, raw DEUTSCHPUNK and DISRUPT (some parts borrowed directly from some DISRUPT songs). being great people and a strong anti-cop and anti-Nürnberg (their hometown and one of Germany's cities were being PUNK and having right-wing political views at the same time was very common) stance make them score extra points. the only thing I'm not really into is the way the lyrics are written in some parts cause that sounds pseudo-intellectual to me. came with a booklet in newspaper form, multi-colored vinyl and the cover folds out to a big poster.

PARANOIA KEEPS CRAWLING - MADE TO BE BROKEN CD

I've already told you that PARANOIA KEEPS CRAWLING evolved out of SEUCHENHERD and STAGNATION'S END when those bands split. after the split 12" with STAGNATION'S END the released their MADE TO BE BROKEN full-length on CIVILISATION REC. (the vinyl version) and PER KORO REC. (the CD version). I didn't post it earlier cause it's still available but as PARANOIA KEEPS CRAWLING now have also called it a day and Markus / PER KORO sells the CD for just 4.50 € I decided to post it so you can check it out and then buy it in case you like it! a little bit of advertisement for PER KORO REC. so to say. b.t.w. as Markus moves with his record store and therefore has a lot of costs he needs money anyway! so, go and buy records from him! he's cheap, quick, reliable and most of all a really cool guy! and as Oli from CIVILISATION REC.also needs (always) money buy records from him too! now back to PARANOIA KEEPS CRAWLING: the CD version of MADE TO BE BROKEN came in a DVD-case and comes with the same (colored) booklet that also comes with the 12" version. I got both versions but due to me being lazy I ripped the CD. music-wise I dare to say PARANOIA KEEPS CRAWLING were heavy influenced by NEUROSIS and HIS HERO IS GONE but were far from being another stupid clone-band!

REVENGE - DEMO

I just got this copy of REVENGE's demo-tape thanks to my old buddy Uli! 9 songs and an intro that appeared just here on their demo. I guess the reason that none of these tracks made it on their 1st 7" is that these songs are sounding way more NY-styled than anything they did later (and got them the chance to open for SICK OF IT ALL if I'm not mistaken where they pissed people off cause they drank all the beer incl. that for SICK OF IT ALL and their roadies or something like that). if you compare this tape to their brilliant 2nd 7" it might sound like 2 different bands if you don't listen carefully but if you play the demo and their 2 7"es after one another you can hear the progress they made as a band. the rule of thumb is that progressing as a band is a process very much like growing up in case of bands that have been started by people that haven't played in (many) other bands before and therefore have just little expierience and REVENGE (who shortened their name from SCAPEGOAT'S REVENGE to REVENGE not that long before this tape was recorded I think b.t.w.) are no exception to this rule. the tape also included really pretty artwork on the inlay as shown below but no lyrics.

MAD MAGS / SCRAPPY - LIVE IN REGENSBURG 28/12/2008

MAD MAGS is the CRO MAGS cover-band of GROWING MOVEMENT's drummer Max and they played in Regensburg on his girlfriend's birthday for a good cause! his girlfriend wants to finance a well in Ethiopia and told everybody she doesn't want any gifts she'd prefer a donation for the well instead and also the money from the door went to the well! MAD MAGS played 1st and I dare say that 90% of the audience didn't realize that they were a coverband! when the singer said "I'm sure you all know the next song as it's a CRO MAGS cover!" I started to ask if the people knew MAD MAGS are a coverband and when they asked for CDs after the show I was sure they didn't! besides MAD MAGS there were 2 other bands on the bill, one of them being SCRAPPY and the other will not be named as I'd rather like to beat up the bandmembers than promote them in any form! their bassplayer, a rich brat and known coward (with a D.M.S. tattoo on his chest) who was hanging out with me and some others cause he was hot on a girl and was stupid enough to suggest to smash the windows of a local nazishop to impress the girl. I'd still pay a lot of money for a pic of his face after everybody said "OK, why not?"! to make a long story short as we all were dead drunk our plan wasn't that smart and one of us (the youngest) got caught by the police and got house arrest from his parents right after they picked him up from the police station! even though I told the idiot that if our friend would have given them our names the pigs would have shown up at our homes he called me every fucking day nearly crying and asked me if I've already talked to our friend! what a wussy! I've been told he's a school teacher teaching religion now! besides that their singer sounds like someone would squeeze his balls! I found them so unlistenable that I went back home for an hour to spare me from that torture! when I came back SCRAPPY were already playing. they play some sort of SKA / PUNK mix (with trumpets, etc.) and I guess they're good at that and those of them that I know are nice people but as I hate SKA...
edit: I spent this evening with my old buddy Loll and he told me that the MAD MAGS guys were asked if they'd have "CDs for sale" after the show! I guess that proves me right, most people didn't recognize they're a cover-band...

WARTOYS - NACHZEHRER 7"

NACHZEHRER was the follow up of Augsburg's WARTOYS to their split 7" with TOTAL RESISTENCIA. this was one of the bands out of the ashes of INFERNO, you know this German band that had records like TOD & WAHNSINN! WARTOYS were more U.K.-CRUST sounding than INFERNO (when INFERNO were around there was no CRUST yet but INFERNO influenced the CRUST bands a lot). and WARTOYS were the only band, in our circle, that not only sounded CRUST but also looked like one! back to this 7" that came in a really cool package: a bag made of cloth with a screenprint on front and back enveloped the 7" cover, which was a fold out cover again as you can see on the pic. the 7" had 6 tracks of heavy, midtempo paced CRUST and the basic lyrical theme here was anti-MacDonald's. WARTOYS split up a short time ago. Zong, who was in INFERNO, will hate me for this as he doesn't like it when you stress his past in INFERNO but he also has a kind of INDUSTRIAL / NOISE project called DEEP which is still active!

the 1st thing to tell you is that I "stole" this rip from the great MOSH EISLEY blog but I scanned the booklet and uploaded the comp. myself again! it's an international comp. but as it features STAGNATION'S END, DIAVOLO ROSSO and AMEN 81 I thought I should steal it and re-post it here. Chris from MOSH EISLEY said the following about this comp.: "Another release from Flowerviolence Records here. I contacted Ralf if it's okay to get this compilation online. He said he would like it. There are not that many copies left and so it would get some more attention. I don't like all of the bands here but for me getting this LP was worthwhile because of bands like Durango 95, Amen 81, DS 13, Diavolo Rosso or Fear is the Path to the Darkside. The layout of this compilation is also great. A nice cardboard sleeve and a little book instead of a normal lyric sheet. So dive a little bit more into the German / Swedish Hardcore scene from the beginning of the new millenium." as that's pretty much how I feel about this comp. too I don't feel the need to add anything! click on the cover to download!

ONE FIST ROCKIN´ - FAREWELL SHOW 13/09/2008

on Saturday 13/09/2008 local heroes ONE FIST ROCKIN´ have played their farewell show in our hometown. musicaly they´re not really my cup of coffee but as I know their singer for quite some time and, way more important, as it was the last evening here for a close friend of mine before she moved to Wales for 1 year I decided to show up there! besides ONE FIST ROCKIN´ BLACK SHERIFF from Cologne and THE SMALLTOWN ROCKETS from Suttgart were on the bill but as I didn´t manage to show up as early as I wanted to and the flyer said ROCK`N`ROLL I saw none of them cause of talking to people outside and my dislike for ROCK´N´ROLL in general. as ONE FIST ROCKIN´ have been announced as DIRTY STREET ROCK´N´ROLL I was prepared for the worst but they weren´t that bad at all! their singer Spike gave an energetic performance and won my heart over with a big LOVE SUCKS tattoo over his belly. the wanna be though guy skinhead idiots liked them too or perhaps just pretended to do so to have a reason to put off their shirts and try to impress everyone with their 3, in most cases poorly done, tattoos. after the show we headed to another bar where my friend Sid and I made a lot of new friends (like we always do) through cynic comments and having fun! especially when Sid tried to get involved in a politcal discussion. I tried to avoid any involvment as I prefered to use the time to drink Gin Tonic and talk to Nadja. all of a sudden the sad moment where we had to say goodbye to her was reached. Sid told her that if she should´ve problems she should just call and within 12 hours he would be there! as I wasn´t as drunk as Sid I figured that 12 hours could be to short to get to her. so the 12 hours turned into 24 hours and I promised to accompany Sid if she´d need us. one retarded wanna be skinhead, who didn´t know us, started to laugh but stopped when someone, who knew us, told him that we really would come if she´d call us. when after saying goodbye Sid and I decided to check out a new after-hour club. that would turn out to be a stupid idea but that´s another story!

REVENGE / DIAVOLO ROSSO - SPLIT LIVETAPE

this is REVENGE live in their singer´s hometown! even if you don´t speak German you might get that the singer is dead drunk which might be the reason for the comments he makes between the songs. ClAus-rotten, the guy who released the tape on his tapelabel wrote about those comments that he who takes what Hoiz says for real is an asshole and I agree with him on that! we may have our very own kind of humor here in Bavaria and it might be hard to get into that when you haven´t been born and raised here but that doesn´t mean we´re all nazis, jocks, etc.... the sound of the DIAVOLO ROSSO side is really good as they were recorded on eight tracks and mastered afterwards! 15 songs and their set includes covers from CRUCIFIX, POISON IDEA and G.G. ALLIN!

NIPPER 7"

this 7" should follow their PSALMS OF PURIFICATION CD on BAD INFLUENCE Rec. but somehow this 7" wasn't recorded under a lucky star. it was supposed to be released on vocalist Pat's label that was called BARRACUDA Rec. before but as Pat didn't like the old name anymore he changed it to RADIATION STAR Rec. and as the 7" was already in the pressing plant (with the old name on the label) he made stickers with the new label to cover it. that was the first thing that went wrong but more, that I can´t remember anymore, were to follow and finally NIPPER split up and Pat destroyed the 7"es with the exception of 13 7"es of which he gave one to me. it has 5 tracks of what is called POSI-CORE in the same style as the tracks on their CD, STAGNATION which was as a live-recording on the CD was re-recorded for this 7".

:OPERATION:MINDFUCK: - DEMOTAPE

:OPERATION:MINDFUCK: was/is Michl who used to be in FIRSTWORLDSUICIDE and joined ERADICATE as a 2nd singer on the split 12" with SUPERHELICOPTER LTD. this is the 16 track demo of his one man drum machine GRIND project that he did besides his "real" bands. all recordings were done in his room by himself - real D.I.Y. so to speak! as the tracks are really short (you could have guessed that when you were at the part where it says drum machine!) and there are a lot of movie samples as filler between the songs I just ripped it as side a & b! as this his first try the sound quality lacks here and there and the programing of the drum patterns remind me of bad techno music on 1 or 2 occasions but as this is the debut of :OPERATION:MINDFUCK: I´d say it´s a good start! I know a lot of bands that were worse!
